Has anyone here seen the film Once, with Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova? Saw it for the second time the other night and it's just wonderful.

So has anyone actually seen The Hurt Locker, and if so does it justify the hype it's been getting?

It's brilliant. But I'm not aware how much hype it's getting so I really can't tell.

Well it won 6 oscars including best film and best director, so that's a fair bit of hype I would say.

Ah, well I don't really pay attention to the film scene. I'd definitely advise you watch it though, it's very good indeed.

Blimey, can't believe my Avatar comment caused such a heated debate!
Scat summed up what I would've said in a far more cohesive way than I would have been able to. Just because a film has made millions doesn't mean its any good. That is all.

However, you hate everything so your opinion is meaningless.

That's great, but this is some other shit."

Saw The Thin Red Line a few days ago. I finally know why the random gunshot in that EITS song is there...

I hear Criterion are putting that out on Blu-Ray soon.

Not sure that adds anything to the discussion.

Nope, it doesn't.

Sorry.

That's odd, I saw it in 720p but it doesn't seem to be out on BD or HD-DVD.

In order to add to the discussion, I wasn't immensely impressed. It was nice enough but seemed slightly wanky at times.

Saw A Prophet last night. I liked it, but felt it was maybe 30 mins too long and sagged in the middle a wee bit. The two other people I went with (who booked the tickets and were the people asking me to go i.e. the ones who REALLY wanted to see the film) both hated it, thinking it was too long [I saw their point, to an extent] and that it was boring [to which I disagreed].

Saw 2012 last night, and my oh my, I haven't laughed quite so long and hard in a long time! It's comedic genius!
