The Northwestern

Postby J.L.C on Mon Apr 20, 2009 8:35 am

I just saw this whilst idly browsing the DiS boards:
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boa ... ic/4176045

A quick google and the only other thing I could find was this:
http://www.sneakypetes.co.uk/gigs/
No image yet, and no myspace page yet. This band are very very new. Northwestern is ex HOPE OF THE STATES members Sam and Simon’s new project. Ludicrously catchy and blends all the best bits from Hope of the States with a bit of Broken Social Scene.

This date is their first in the city and part of their first ever tour! NOT TO BE MISSED!

Also looking at dates on various ticket sites I can see shows in Birmingham and Glasgow in early June.

I'm going to go over the road now to have a look in NME and find the thing the guy on DiS was talking about... I need more information on this...

UPDATE:
myspace: http://www.myspace.com/thenorthwesternmusic - with two songs: "All The Ones" and "Telephones"

Simon mentioned something about being in NME this week. I didn't think much of it, since they all seem so busy these days.

Good spot, though.

I am excited.

I'm excited too, ridiculously so. I should hopefully be able to make a few dates of the tour as it's conveniently after I've finished uni, it'll blow my financial plans for the rest of the year but it'll definitely be worth it! :D

The NME thing was in the 'On the Stereo' bit, I think the track they were talking about was called "All The Ones", but I was trying too hard to remember the description so I might have got that wrong, they said it was "shimmering sun-kissed indie jangle pop".

I'd happily go on a road-trip to follow them for a week or so if anyone's up for joining me.

Confirmed dates so far:

3rd June: Captain's Rest, Glasgow
4th June: Sneaky Pete's, Edinburgh

Same, I'd happily go round for the whole tour! If there's a Manchester date a can give a couple of people floorspace if they want it, I would've moved all of my stuff out by then, but I still have the room until late June so I might as well make use of it!

I've also found:
1st June: The Flapper, Birmingham.

I'll update the first post with the dates, it'd probably help...

I'll take you up on that if there is one, and any other offers in various cities...

I can offer what space I can manage if there's a Cambridge date, unlikely as that seems.

Oh hell.

3 years on and i'm still hopelessly addicted.

I'll be at as many dates as i can manage.

Also ever so slightly disappointed that no one mentioned anything official on here.

Needed! That would be awe-inspiring. Or just awesome. Either way; please!

Yeah definately, my exams finish on the 28th of May. I'm free all of June though I'm unavailable in July.
